Amber Riley Set to Lead NBC Musical Comedy ‘Dream’

Former Glee star Amber Riley is set to co-executive produce and star in the  musical comedy Dream, currently in development at NBC. Writing and showrunning the project will be Black-ish writer and producer, Lisa Muse Bryant, who will co-executive produce alongside Neil Meron.

In the series, Riley plays Dream Morgan, a teen mother who turns her life topsy-turvy in order to follow her dreams of becoming a singer upon her sons college graduation.

Riley spent six seasons on the musical comedy Glee as Mercedes Jones. The singer/actress then went on to star in The Wiz! Live on NBC, The Little Mermaid Live! on ABC, and won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2017 for her portrayal as Effie White in the West End revival of Dreamgirls. On the film side, she has starred alongside Tika Sumpter in 2018’s Nobody’s Fool and headed the 2015 TV movie My One Christmas Wish. Riley has also expanded her talents to music, releasing her self titled debut album Riley this year.
