Anthony Mackie is set to produce and star in the new Netflix action-thriller, The Ogun. The actor will be teaming up once more with Burning Sands producer Jason Michael Berman to co-produce the project for Mandalay Pictures. The duo previously produced the 2019 sci-fi drama IO for the streamer. The Hollywood Reporter reports that former stuntman, Madison Turner (The Dark Knight Rises), wrote the script with no director named for the project yet.
In The Ogun, Xavier Rhodes (Mackie), brings his teenage daughter to Nigeria in hopes to find a cure for the rare genetic condition that he passed on to her. When his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes pushes the limits of his powerful abilities to go on a rampage through the criminal underworld to find her before it’s too late.
Mackie has a long list of credits, with his most notable roles being in Marvel Studio’s franchise films; Antman, Captain America and Avenger’s: Endgame. The actor will be reprising his role as Sam Wilson, The high-flying Falcon, in 2020’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and can be seen in the upcoming Joe Wright film, The Woman in the Window opposite Amy Adams.
