Jennifer Hudson has been tapped to star in an upcoming Christmas Comedy for New Line in a new preemptive deal. Ira Madison III will pen the script while Hudson makes her producing premier alongside Respect producer, Jonathan Glickman.
In the film, Hudson will play a down-and-out singer whose life is turned upside down when she is mistaken for writing the next Christmas hit. To add, the singer will be belting Christmas classics in addition to new holiday tunes.
Hudson made her film debut in 2006’s Dreamgirls, which gained her an Academy Award for her showstopping performance as Effie White. She can be seen in MGM’s upcoming biopic, Respect, as the Queen of Soul herself Aretha Franklin. She is also set to executive produce and voice a role in the 2021 short film Baba Yaga – an immersive VR experience.
