Variety has just announced Regina King will direct the Harlem-renaissance set ‘Bitter Root’. It is a film adaptation of the Harlem comic book series.
King, an Academy Award winning actress and director, will produce the movie for Legendary Pictures along with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian of Proximity Media.
King continues to make history, having won a whopping 59 awards in her career. She received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ and is the first African-American woman to win four Primetime Emmy Awards.
This is not her first time behind the camera. She continues to add to her long list of credits, having directed episodes of ‘Being Mary Jane’, ‘Scandal’, ‘Shameless’, ‘Insecure’, the feature film ‘One Night in Miami’, and more.
