Spike Lee is currently in talks to direct Justin Timberlake in ‘Spinning Gold,’ a biopic about iconic 1970s record exec Neil Bogart, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

With Foresight Unlimited selling the film internationally at AFM, it’s been acquired by SPWA in Latin America, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Greece.

The screenplay was written by Bogart’s son Boardwalk Entertainment’s Timothy Scott Bogart, in which he will also serve as a producer along with Timberlake, Foresight CEO Mark Damon, Laurence Mark and Gary Randall.

Before his death at the age of 39 in 1982, Bogart was the founder of Casablanca Records who who helped discover major 70’s rock and disco acts such as Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight, KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer and The Village People.

Lee’s next film is the English-language remake of the Korean pic Oldboy, followed by another independent film that was funded through Kickstarter.

Timberlake was last seen opposite Ben Affleck in Runner Runner.
