A Quirky Family Pursuing Lofty Dreams
Set against the backdrop of 1969 San Fernando Valley, Government Cheese tells the story of the Chambers family—a delightfully quirky group driven by ambitious and seemingly impossible dreams. The show explores the intersection of idealism and reality, with a touch of surrealism that adds a unique edge to the narrative.
The story begins when Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo) is released from prison and returns home, expecting a joyful family reunion. However, things don’t go as planned. During Hampton’s absence, his wife, Astoria (Simone Missick), and sons, Einstein (Austin Ellison) and Harrison (Di’Allo Winston), have created an unconventional family dynamic. Hampton’s return throws their world into comedic chaos as they all adjust to the new normal.
