Deadline is reporting that Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) will be recurring on the upcoming Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, while Colm Feore (House of Cards), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), and Adam Godley (Breaking Bad) have been added as series regulars.

They join a cast that includes Mary J. Blige, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gallagher.

Based on the popular, Eisner award-winning comics and graphic novels of the same name created and written by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics, the live-action series follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes (The Umbrella Academy) – Luther (Hopper), Diego (Castañeda), Allison (Raver-Lampman), Vanya (Page), Klaus (Sheehan) and Number Five (Gallagher) – as they work together to solve their father Reginald Hargreeves’ mysterious death, while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.

Feore will play Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist and adoptive father of seven children with supernatural abilities. He trains them relentlessly to turn them into a superhero team. Britton will play Hazel, a ruthless hit-man who time travels to take out marks. He’s starting to lose enthusiasm for the job. His partner is Cha-Cha, played by Mary J. Blige. Godley will play Pogo in a voiceover/motion capture role. Pogo is a genetically engineered talking chimp who wears tweet jackets. He’s an aide and friend to Hargreeves and his children.

Madekwe is Detective Patch, a driven, fast riser within the police department focused on solving a string of crimes in the city. Some might call her arrogant, but she gets the job done, and with charm. She plays by the book, but that doesn’t make her soft. She isn’t sympathetic to vigilantism–which puts her at odds with a certain sibling of the Umbrella Academy.

Madekwe played witch Tituba on Salem and Ashley Davenport on Revenge, and is a series regular on Deadlier Than The Male, which was just picked up to series by TNT.

The Umbrella Academy is being produced by Universal Cable Productions. Steve Blackman (Fargo, Altered Carbon) will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with additional executive producers Bluegrass Television and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse Entertainment. Gerard Way will serve as co-executive producer.

The 10-episode first season of The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere in 2018.
