1555Filmworks latest project, White People Money, is set to debut on STARZ October 1. The film stars actress Drew Sidora (Step Up, Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story) and Barton Fitzpatrick (The Chi).
In White People Money, MacKenzie Scott – ex-wife of multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos – pledges to give away 15 billion dollars to 15 winners. Kareem (Fitzpatrick) and Nora (Sidora) are a couple living in the hood on the Southside of Chicago who happen to be one of the 15 lucky recipients who attempt to hide it from greedy friends, family, and strangers alike, while still trying to enjoy their newfound wealthy status. The film also stars Aaron D. Spears (The Bold and the Beautiful, Being Mary Jane), Dawn Noel, Nicole Arbour, and Sarah Cigan.
White People Money is both written and directed by filmmaker Mark Harris. Previously, Harris has directed Holla If You Hear Me, I Used to Love Her, Black Butterfly, Black Coffee, No Regrets, Couples’ Night, Nothing Like Thanksgiving, House Behind The Tracks, and Everyday But Christmas. The film is produced by Bailey Brown and Zohra. Vertical Entertainment serves as the distributor.
Harris’ latest theatrical release was 2014’s Black Coffee, starring Darrin Dewitt Henson (Soul Food, Stomp the Yard) and Gabrielle Dennis (The Game, Rosewood), which had a limited release on six screens. This is the 15th released film for Writer/Director Mark Harris, who is known for tackling tough subjects and controversial ideas in his work.
