Brian Hooks Talks Laughing To The BankBy Wilson Morales

While in Miami attending the 17th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF), Blackfilm.com attended the June 21 screening of Brian Hooks’ latest film, “Laughing To The Bank,” which marks the first film from producer Bernard Bronner new company, Make It Rain Films.
The film explores an African American thespian’s struggle to be recognized as a major key player in Hollywood that go beyond the stereotypical roles. It is sending a message to audiences of every background, that African Americans can provide for themselves and stand on their own despite adversity from the media.
For Hooks, whose film credits include Phat Beach (1996), 3 Strikes (2000), Nothin’ 2 Lose (2000), The Luau (2001), The Chatroom (2002) and Malibooty (2003), the film represents a return to leading role status after appearing numerous supporting roles over the last few years.
Bernard Bronner, the head of Make it Rain Films, was formerly associated with Rain Forest Films, which has produced hits such as “Think Like A Man,” “Takers” and “Stomp the Yard” among others.
Bronner Brothers International Hair Show in Atlanta, GA will host the official red carpet premiere Laughing To The Bank on August 18, 2013. Bernard Bronner’s Make It Rain Films has announced the theatrical release of Laughing to the Bank on August 23, 2013.
