Debbie Allen To Direct, Guest Star on ABC Series, ‘Grey’s Anatomyby Wilson Morales

Debbie Allen will be appearing on ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ playing Jackson’s (Jesse Williams) mother, Catherine Avery, in the fifth episode of the upcoming season, as first reported by EW.
Allen, who previously directed three installments of Grey’s under her belt, will also helm a midseason episode of the series, The Hollywood Reporter stated.
Allen famously played Lydia Grant on the 1980s series Fame, which was based on the 1980 film, and also had a role in the 2009 feature adaptation.
As a director, Allen has been behind the camera numerous TV series such as Hellcats, Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends and All of Us.
On Broadway, she directed the highly successful Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which starred Terrence Howard, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose and James Earl Jones.
Grey’s Anatomy returns for its eighth season on Thursday, Sept. 22 on ABC.
