Deon Taylor to Direct Supernatural Film ‘Akuma’by Wilson Morales

October 6, 2011

Screen Media Films has announced that Dean Taylor (‘The Hustle,’ ‘Chain Letter,’ ‘Nite Tales: The Movie,’ ‘Dead Tone’) will next direct Akuma (Japanese for “Demon”), a supernatural tale planned for release in fall of 2012.

Taylor will direct the film and produce alongside Roxanne Avent from a screenplay that he wrote with Blayne Weaver and Joe Bockol.

The movie, which Taylor describes as a mix between ‘Paranormal Activity’ and ‘The Exorcist,’ follows a young Japanese woman, Akira, who is looking to put her life back together after a recent tragedy. As she pushes hard to overcome these problems she soon realizes that she’s fighting something very dark.

It is noted that the film will employ a “handheld style” in the shooting, which will take place in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Japan and San Francisco, beginning November 10th.
