Djimon Hounsou has been added to the cast of Legendary Pictures’ Paradise Lost, joining Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker, stated Variety.
With Alex Proyas set to direct, Paradise Lost is an adaptation of John Milton’s 17th-century English poem. The movie is about the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael (Walker) and Lucifer (Cooper), and will be developed as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D.
Hounsou will play Abdiel, the angel of death.
Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Vincent Newman via his Vincent Newman Entertainment banner.
Stuart Hazeldine developed the primary draft of the screenplay, originally written by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi. Lawrence Kasdan provided a polish as well as Ryan Condal, who delivered the most recent draft.
Hounsou was last seen on the big screen in Julie Taymor’s ‘The Temptest.’ His last film, ‘Elephant White’ with Kevin Bacon, is currently on DVD.
