MTV just announced that Doja Cat will make her hosting debut at the 2021 MTV Video Music Award’s (VMA’s). The live broadcast will come from New York’s Barclays Center on Sunday, September 12 at 8PM ET/PT on MTV.
Doja Cat is bringing her mega-star power back to the VMA’s, following her 2020 performance of her hits “Say So” & “Like That” mash-up and the win for her first-ever Moon Person for “PUSH Best New Artist.” This year the artist raises the bar even higher with an eye-capturing performance while being up for five awards, including two of the night’s highest honors “Video of the Year” and “Artist of the Year.”
Other artist set to perform at this years show include; Chlöe (who is making her debut solo performance), Doja Cat, Shawn Mendes and Twenty One Pilots. All who join an increasingly stacked lineup of VMA’s performers including Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X, LORDE, Machine Gun Kelly, Olivia Rodrigo. Additional performers are soon to be announced.
Amongst this year’s nominees are Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion – who lead the pack for nominations. Following in second are Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo.
This year, rock band – Foo Fighters – will receive the first-ever MTV VMA’s Global Icon Award who’s performance will mark their return to the VMA’s stage for the first time since 2007.
Fans are still able to vote for their favorites across 14 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Collaboration” and more by visiting here through Friday, September 3, 2021. Voting for “Best New Artist,” (presented by Facebook) will remain active into the show on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Nominations for social categories including “Best Group” and “Song of Summer” will be announced at a later date.
The 2021 MTV VMA’s are executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic. Barb Bialkowski co-executive produces while Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba serve as executives in charge of production.
