During the 25th Annual Essence Festival, Blackfilm.com caught up with Black-ish actor Miles Brown as he was out here enjoying the festivities while at the same time talking about some of the projects he’s involved with, such as Disney Dreamers Academy.
This is the festival’s 25th anniversary. How many times you’ve been out here?

Miles Brown: This is my second year of essence. I really just came out here to just enjoy the whole experience. I wasn’t really coming out here planning on promoting anything or doing any interviews. I wanted to hang out with my friends and enjoy the experience.
What have you learned and seen while being here?
Miles Brown: The first year I went, which was last year, there was a lot of people; but this year it’s crazy. Literally, I was at upstairs and I was looking at everybody on the ground on the first level, and there was so many people. That was just really inspiring to see how many people are moved by essence and what they’re trying to put out to the world. And I feel like that’s just that’s just really inspiring to see.
I’ve seen that you’ve been by the Disney booth talking about their Dreamers Academy. What can you tell me about that?

Miles Brown: It’s a super exciting project. Disney Dreamers Academy and this is my second this year of being a part of it. It’s basically just a project that they’re having, bringing out 100 high school kids, and being able to just to mentor them and take them through what it’s like and be able to inspire them do whatever they want to do. They have certain celebrities, actors, musicians come out and just speak to the kids and give them their their life experiences. I don’t have that much of a life yet. I’m only 14. But I just wanted to give my experiences of what it’s like growing up with school and acting at the same time, and it’s been a really great experience for me.
With another season of Black-ish coming up, how much fun are you having on the set?
Miles Brown: It’s crazy. I can’t wait to go back we start again. I think this August should be coming out in the fall. So I’m excited to come back for another season and have fun.
