Peacock’s limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist premiered closing night at the 22nd Annual Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival held on the island of Martha’s Vineyard August 2nd through 10th.
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, stars Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, Kevin Hart and Chloe Bailey and is the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but ultimately transformed Atlanta into the “Black Mecca.” The series will premiere on Peacock September 5th.
The MVAAFF Fight Night event kicked off with beats from DJ Trauma ahead of the festival’s founders, Stephanie and Floyd Rance’s introduction of the closing night programming starting with “The Power of Legacy and Influence: A Conversation with Will Packer”. A discussion between the series’ executive producer Will Packer and journalist Danielle Cadet, held on Roc Nation’s Lenny Santiago’s iconic gold couch.
The sold out world premiere screening of Peacock’s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist was followed by a Q&A with Will Packer, showrunner, creator and executive producer Shaye Ogbonna and cast members Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle and Chloe Bailey, moderated by journalist Tiffany Cross.
Celebrating Fight Night, cast members Henson, Cheadle and Bailey hosted the festivals closing night party, a packed house attended also by singer song-writer, Ledisi, actor Glynn Turman, President of MSNBC, Rashida Jones, actress Lynn Whitfield, best-selling author and television personality Elaine Welteroth, and more who celebrated with Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist cast and executive producers ahead of the premiere on Peacock on September 5th.
