First Photo Of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad CastPosted by Wilson Morales
April 8, 2015
Writer and director David Ayer tweeted a cast photo of Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad as they goy together for a read-through. Jared Leto is absent as he’s on currently tour with his band 30 Seconds to Mars. The film will hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
Also included in the pic are Jim Parrack (‘True Blood’), Ike Barinholtz (‘Neighbors’) and Adam Beach (‘Flags of Our Fathers’).
Suicide Squad is set to star Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Plastique and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
Latino Review’s El Mayimbe announced on Instagram that Ike Barinholtz will play Hugo Strange and that Jim Parrack will play Deathstroke. He’s also stating that Adam Beach is rumored to play the villain Ravan.
Update: David Ayer has released another photo on his Twitter account showing Jared Leto. Joker fans will instantly recognize the photo as an homage to the cover of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s classic story “The Killing Joke.”
Originally created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959, the group was retooled into its current iteration as villains working off their sentence by John Ostrander. The team has included countless DC villains (and heroes) among its ranks throughout the years. It’s also been a staple of recent DC media. The CW’s hit series “Arrow” introduced their own version of the team in the most recent season of the series and the recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham, offered another version of the team.
The film is being produced by Charles Roven (The Dark Knight trilogy, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle). Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns are serving as executive producers.
