Universal Pictures has released a 60 seconds TV spot for RIDE ALONG 2 during last night’s season 2 premiere of Fox’s Empire. The film is the sequel to the blockbuster action-comedy that gave us the year’s most popular comedy duo, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.
Set to hit theaters on January 15, 2016 and also coming back for the next chapter of the series are director Tim Story, as well as Cube’s fellow producers—Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner, who will produce alongside Cube.
Besides Hart and Cube coming back as Ben Barber and Detective James Payton the film respectively, Tika Sumpter is reprising her role as Angela Payton, James’s sister and Ben’s girlfriend, and Bruce McGill as Lt. Brooks, Payton’s boss in the Atlanta Police department. Newcomers include Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, and Sherri Shepherd.
When the film opened in 2014 with $41 million dollars, it held the number one spot at the US box office for three weeks, grossing $21 million and $12 million in its second and third weeks. Its total domestic gross was $134,202,565, with the international gross $19,059,619, bringing the worldwide total to $153,262,184, according to Wikipedia.
