GMC TV, America’s favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, presents the Original World Television Premiere of “From This Day Forward”, a new original gospel stage play produced exclusively for television starring Leon (Deon), Essence Atkins (Patrice), Antwon Tanner (Lucas) Vanessa Simmons (Corinne) and featuring the Grammy Award-nominated hip hop gospel recording artist Flame (Noah) in his television acting debut. The heartwarming drama about trust and expectations in marriage is the second in a series offour wedding vow-themed productions that will air on the network in 2012. “From This Day Forward” makes its world television premiere exclusively on GMC TV on Saturday, May 12th at 7:00 pm ET with encore broadcasts at 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

Airing throughout wedding season, GMC’s four-part nuptial series will continue in June with the third installment, “In Sickness and in Health”, and in September with the fourth and final installment, “To Love and To Cherish.” Each play will feature a different cast and new storylines all tied into the wedding vow theme. The first production in the series, “For Richer or Poorer,” premiered on April 14th.

“From This Day Forward” tells the humor-filled and moving story of two couples at different stages in their relationships who are each grappling with issues of trust and expectations in marriage. Deon and Patrice seem like the perfect couple after their four years of matrimony, however Patrice doesn’t trust her husband and is obsessed with thoughts of him cheating. Deon, who has always been faithful, is fed up with Patrice’s snooping and plays a trick on her to catch her red-handed. Corrine and Lucas are newly engaged but already struggling with mismatched perspectives on marriage stemming from Lucas’s decision to present Corrine with a pre-nuptial agreement to sign. Enraged and hurt, Corrine gives him a taste of his own medicine by giving him a “pre-nup” of her own. With one couple wrestling with the baggage of the past and the other dealing with the ‘what-ifs’ of the future, “From This Day Forward” explores how happiness in love—whether between spouses or those about to take the plunge—is a state that must be won again and again.

GMC presents “From This Day Forward” starring Leon, Essence Atkins, Antwon Tanner and Vanessa Simmons. Screenplay is by Cas Sigers Beedles (“A Cross to Bear”, “If You Really Love Me”) and directed by Roger Melvin.

GMC’s “From This Day Forward” is produced by Swirl Films’ Eric Tomosunas, who has produced and taped numerous stage plays and feature-length films for television and DVD including Love for Sale, A Mother’s Prayer, There’s a Stranger in My House, “For Richer or Poorer,” “The Ideal Husband” and “Sugar Mommas”.

“From This Day Forward” is the eighth original gospel stage play to air in GMC’s hit series following the success of GMC productions “For Richer or Poorer,” “Love Me or Leave Me,” “The Ideal Husband,” “She’s Not Our Sister,” “The Love You Save,” “Sugar Mommas,” “If You Really Love Me,” and “For Richer For Poorer.” GMC is the only network producing the popular medium and bringing it to a broad television audience.
