Lexus UPTOWN Honors Hollywood Celebrates Mario Van Peebles, Taye Diggs, Wood Harris and Omar Benson Miller

On Wednesday night, Lexus and UPTOWN Magazine celebrated four influential Black creatives at Lexus UPTOWN Honors Hollywood, held at The Sunset Room Hollywood during Oscar Week.

The annual awards program honored Mario Van Peebles, Taye Diggs, Wood Harris and Omar Benson Miller for their lasting contributions to film, television and theater and for helping shape culturally impactful storytelling both on screen and behind the camera.

Van Peebles received the Icon of Achievement Award for his groundbreaking work as a filmmaker and actor, including directing the classic New Jack City and creating the acclaimed film Baadasssss! about his father, pioneering filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles.

Taye Diggs was presented with the Impact and Excellence Award for a career spanning Broadway, television and film, including standout roles in How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Best Man and The Wood.

Harris received the Fearless Trailblazer Award, recognizing his memorable performances in projects such as HBO’s The Wire, Remember the Titans and the Creed franchise. Miller was honored with the Amplified Impact Award for his work across film and television, including 8 Mile, Miracle at St. Anna and HBO’s Ballers.

Hosted by Chris Spencer and Tai Beauchamp, the evening featured a standout performance by R&B vocalist Chanté Moore, whose powerful vocal range reminded the audience why she remains one of the genre’s most accomplished singers.

Attendees included Boris Kodjoe, Malcolm D. Lee, Anna Maria Horsford, Flex Alexander, Omar J. Dorsey, Kenny Lattimore, Essence Atkins, TV and radio host Bevy Smith, author Amy DuBois Barnett, Yaya DaCosta, Guy Torry, Shaun Robinson, Ricco Ross and singer Ty Taylor.
