Gabrielle Union Set to Star in Disney’s ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ Remake from Kenya Barris

Black-ish creator, Kenya Barris, is reimagining Cheaper by the Dozen for Disney. Gabrielle Union will be leading the new film that is set to premier in 2022 on Disney+. The news was another announcement made in the Disney Investor Day. Union will executive produce on the project alongside Shawn Levy. Black-ish and Will & Grace producer/writer Gail Lerner will direct.

The new film will center “on a blended family of 12, navigating a hectic home life and their family business.” The original film debuted in 1950 and was based on an autobiography of the same name penned by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. The movie was remade in 2003 starring Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, and Hilary Duff amongst the cast. The remake received the sequel Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in 2005.
