Deadline has reported that Grace Porter has been added to the second season of Epix’s Godfather of Harlem starring Forrest Whitaker. The recent alumnus of NYU’s Tisch Graduate School of Acting will be playing Betty Shabazz, wife of Malcom X (Nigél Hatch) in the series. Porter has had roles in the NYU productions, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and A Dollhouse Part II, also securing roles on CBS’ Madame Secretary and Fox’s Prodigal Son.
Godfather of Harlem chronicles the life of infamous New York crime boss, Bumpy Johnson, and his journey to regain control of the neighborhood he once ruled after an 11 year stint in prison. Created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein the 10 episode series premieres on Epix in 2021.
