Today HBO Max released the teaser for Michael Che’s new comedy show – That Damn Michael Che – which is set to premier on Thursday, May 6. Michael Che HBO Max
Che bookends the 46 second teaser with “People always tell you. ‘You can’t say that ’cause kids are watching’…I want my kids to see everything, it’s bad enough they’re already growin’ up without a father.” In between this, are quick glimpses of the show that clearly outline that Michael Che will push the envelope on hot topic issues.
The six-episode Max Original comedy series will use sketches and vignettes to demonstrate what it feels like to experience various every-day situations including racial profiling, unemployment, falling in love and more, all from Michael’s perspective of course.
Outside of this, Che will share his unique perspective on controversial topics with the help of fellow Saturday Night Live stars Cecily Strong, Heidi Gardner, Colin Quinn, Ellen Cleghorne and Colin Jost. Also joining Che will be celebrity guest stars Omari Hardwick, Geoffrey Owens, Godfrey, Billy Porter And Method Man.
Michael Che is a comedian, writer and actor best known for his role on the late night sketch show, Saturday Night Live. During his tenure at the show he served as a writer and ultimately became co-host for the wildly popular sketch “Weekend Update” alongside Colin Jost, replacing Cecily Strong in the shows 40th season. As a writer for the SNL, Che received two Writer’s Guild of America awards for Outstanding Writing on a Variety Series. Before SNL, Che briefly served as a correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central.
