Hulu renews ‘Woke’ for Season 2

Hulu has renewed the social-comedy Woke for its second season. The network has ordered eight episodes of the live action/animation combo series that’s inspired by the life of award-winning comic book artist Keith Knight. The series comes from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature,

Woke follows Keith (Lamorne Morris), an African-American cartoonist on the verge of mainstream success when an unexpected event changes his life; with a fresh outlook on the world, Keith must navigate the new voices and ideas that confront and challenge him. Starring alongside Morris are comedian T. Murph and Blake Anderson with guest stars Sasheer Zamata and Rose McIver. The show was co-created by Knight and Marshall Todd who are also executive producing alongside Jay Dyer, Maurice “Mo” Marable, Aeysha Carr, Richie Schwartz, John Will, Will Gluck and Eric Christian Olsen.

Keith Knight is an American cartoonist and musician known for his comic strips The K Chronicles, ink, and The Knight Life. Knight’s work is humorous and universal in appeal, however, the artist also often deals with political, social, and racial issues.
