Issa Rae’s Raedio Inks Multi-Project Development Deal with Audible

Multi-hyphenate creative mogul, Issa Rae, and her audio company Raedio have just inked a worldwide exclusive multi-project development deal with top online audiobook and podcast service, Audible. Together, Audible and Raedio will create Audible Original podcasts from a variety of audio genres including scripted comedy, audio extensions of existing content, and entertainment-based nonfiction projects.

“At Audible, we are committed to working with innovative voices that move and influence culture — this goal is fully realized and met by Raedio,” commented Zola Mashariki, head of Audible Studios. “We are thrilled to be in business with Issa and Benoni who consistently create extraordinarily rich content defined by character-driven storytelling.”

This deal quickly follows Audible’s recently announced production and development deals with top creatives such as Kenya Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society, Laura Dern and Jayme Lemons’ Jaywalker Pictures, Stephen Curry’s Unanimous Media, Kevin Hart’s HartBeat Productions, and The SpringHill Company, founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

“We’ve had tremendous success with scripted podcasts over the years and with our Audible collaboration we’re excited to bring fresh, original content to Audible listeners everyehere,” Benoni Tagoe, the president of Raedio, said in a statement. “Our goal is to continue to supply the audio pipeline from music to storytelling as an audio everywhere company.”

Podcasting isn’t anything new for Rae, Raedio is already the creator to the popular true-crime satire series, We Stay Looking and Lookin for Latoya.

Launched in 2019, Raedio serves artists and creators at the highest level as an “audio everywhere company,” operating as the home to a dynamic roster of talent. Raedio extends a platform across media to align acts with film and television projects, commercials, podcasts, and beyond. Raedio also provides music supervision services for multiple television projects at STARZ, HBO, Netflix, HULU and more, as well as feature films. The Raedio team also institutes 360-degree integration by way of partnerships with Kobalt for publishing.
