Jamie Foxx is wearing two hats for his upcoming role in Netflix’s Vampire-Comedy Day Shift. As leading man and executive producer, this will be Foxx’s second exclusive feature for the streamer, his first being action-thriller Project Power. 87Elven Entertainment’s Chad Stahelski (John Wick) and Jason Spitz are producing alongside Impossible Dream Entertainment’s Shaun Redick (BlackKklansman) and Yvette Yates Redick (Malicious). Day Shift is JJ Perry’s directorial debut.
In the film, Foxx is a hard working, blue collar dad who wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8 year old daughter. The twist is that he uses his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning business as a front for his true source of income – hunting and killing vampires. The original script was written by Slamdance Writing Competition winner, Tyler Tice, which was discovered by Impossible Dream Entertainment. John Wick series writer, Shay Hatten, has made revisions for the current film.
Foxx is set to co-star and produce two additional projects for Netflix in the upcoming They Cloned Tyrone film and the Dad Stop Embarrassing Me series. Foxx is also voicing the lead character in the new film Soul for Disney+, to be released Dec. 25.
