The romantic comedy Jumping the Broom will debut on Blu-ray and DVD August 9th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Jumping the Broom’ focuses on a weekend wedding in Martha’s Vineyard where two families from divergent socioeconomic backgrounds clash during their first meeting before the big event.
The star-studded cast includes Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Mike Epps, Loretta Devine, Meagan Good, Tasha Smith, DeRay Davis, Julie Bowen, Romeo Miller, Gary Dourdan, Pooch Hall, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Valarie Pettiford
Patton stars as the lead, with Bassett playing her mother, an heiress and a pillar of the Washington elite. Alonso plays Patton’s love interest and the groom, while Devine plays his mother. Miller plays Patton’s cousin, a senior at Yale.
Bonus materials include commentary and two behind-the-scenes featurettes: “You’re Invited: Behind the Scenes” and “Honoring the Tradition of Jumping the Broom.”
Jumping the Broom was directed by Salim Akil from a story by Elizabeth Hunter and a screenplay by Elizabeth Hunter and Arlene Gibbs. T.D. Jakes, Tracey E. Edmonds, Curtis Wallace, Elizabeth Hunter, and Glendon Palmer served as producers.
