On Thursday, September 28th, BronzeLens Executive Director Kathleen Bertrand will be honored with the African American Film Critic Association 10th Annual SYNERGY Award. The event will be held at the Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta Ga.
AAFCA has been uniting and amplifying the voices of Black film critics and arts entertainment journalists for 20 years. The AAFCA SYNERGY 10 Awards recognizes leaders in the film and television industry for their impact in moving the industry forward. This year’s recipient, Kathleen Bertrand, is a pivotal figure shaping Atlanta’s arts and entertainment landscape and has been a voice for diversity through her position at the helm of the BronzeLens Film Festival.

“I am so grateful to receive this honor on behalf of BronzeLens Film Festival from AAFCA,” says Bertrand. “With Atlanta being recognized around the globe as a center of film and television production, I’m delighted that BronzeLens has been able to play a role in giving voice to the many unheralded stories of people of color in this community and worldwide.” The festival is also an approved Oscar-qualifying festival in the Short Film category and consistently ranks in the top of festivals servicing diverse audiences.
