Variety is reporting that Tina Gordon, the director and co-writer writer of this year’s comedy fantasy Little will helm Praise This, a musical drama from Universal Pictures and Will Packer Productions.
“It is a pleasure to be teaming up with Tina once again. She is a great leader and will bring tremendous energy to this project. Tim, Sharla, Will and I look forward to the collaboration,” said producer James Lopez.
Plot details for the new project are limited, but the feature will center around the world of youth choirs. Gordon is set to write and direct. The story came from the Story Company’s Tim Story’s original idea, with an earlier draft written by Camilla Blackett, Jana Savage, Brandon Broussard, and Hudson Obayuwana.
Lopez and Will Packer will produce Praise This through Packer’s Will Packer Productions. Tim Story and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett are producing for the Story Company, with Universal’s Senior Vp of production Erik Baiers overseeing the project for the company.
Besides the previous Universal and Will Packer Productions project of Little, Gordon’s writing and directing credits also include What Men Want, Crushed, Peeples, ATL, and Drumline.
Praise This is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 25, 2020.
