MACRO Partners with Beats to Help HBCU Students Achieve Dreams of Being in Hollywood

MACRO and Beats will offer current students and recent alumni of four Historically Black Colleges & Universities in Atlanta the opportunity to pitch their passion film project to top Hollywood executives.

Beats has evolved a long-standing commitment to empower Black talent into an impactful mentorship program for HBCU students across the country — providing unmatched industry resources and access to the next generation of creatives. Building on this initiative, Beats is partnering with MACRO, the Academy Award nominated media company driven by Black people and people of color, to evaluate and provide constructive feedback to three finalist teams on their big idea for the next great film.

“I’m so excited to be partnering with Beats on this incredible initiative,” said Stacey Walker King, Chief Brand Officer, MACRO. “Discovering and empowering Black and brown creatives is at the core of the mission of MACRO and I know this effort is just one more step in how we work to increase access and opportunity for the next generation of innovators.”

All applicants must be at least 18 years old and current students or 2020 or 2021 graduates of Atlanta’s Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University or Morris Brown College.

One team will win the opportunity to attend the inaugural Beats Black Creators Summit later this year and attend The 5th Annual MACRO Lodge at Sundance Film Festival in January 2022.

Applications are being accepted at app.communo.com/beats from August 16, 2021 – September 7, 2021. The winners will be announced at The 3rd Annual MACRO HBCU Entertainment Summit on October 28, 2021.
