Lionsgate will release the action drama LONG GONE HEROES in Theaters, On Demand and Digital on September 20, 2024.
LONG GONE HEROES stars acclaimed actors Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Purge: Anarchy), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games franchise, Journey to the Center of the Earth), Eden Brolin (“Yellowstone,” “Beyond”), Mekhi Phifer (“ER,” Honey), Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Frozen River) and Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven, The Godfather Part III). MEKHI PHIFER (Moreau)
Mekhi Thira Phifer, born on December 29, 1974, in Harlem, New York City, is a celebrated American actor known for his extensive work in film and television. Raised by his mother, Rhoda Phifer, a high school teacher, Phifer’s acting career took off when, through an open casting call, he landed the lead role in Spike Lee’s Clockers (1995), which garnered him critical acclaim.
Phifer is widely recognized for his role as Dr. Greg Pratt on NBC’s long-running medical drama “ER”(2002-2008), for which he received multiple NAACP Image Award nominations. He also starred opposite Eminem in the feature film 8 Mile (2002), which remains one of his most notable roles. His other significant film credits include Soul Food (1997), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), O (2001), Dawn of the Dead (2004), and The Divergent Series (2014-2016).
In addition to his film work, Phifer has appeared in several television series, including “Lie to Me”(2009-2011), “Torchwood: Miracle Day” (2011), “House of Lies” (2014), “Secret City” (2016),“Frequency” (2016-2017), and “Truth Be Told” (2019). His performance in the telefilm A Lesson Before Dying (1999) earned him a Black Reel Award nomination and further solidified his reputation as a talented actor.
In Long Gone Heroes, directed by John Swab, Mekhi Phifer takes on the role of Moreau, Gunner’s formidable nemesis. Phifer delivers a shivering performance as a villain with no morals or hesitation when it comes to killing and getting what he wants. As a physically strong opponent, Moreau provides

Beyond acting, Phifer is involved in various entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors. He founded
Third Reel Films in 2011, aiming to provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work. Phifer is
also active in charity, particularly in supporting educational resources in Africa.
Phifer is married to Reshelet Barnes, with whom he tied the knot in 2013. He has a son from his previous
marriage to actress Malinda Williams and another son with former fiancée Onanong Souratha.
