New Logo & Title Revealed For Space Jam Sequel Starring LeBron James

NBA star LeBron James (Trainwreck) recently posted on his Instagram the official logo and new title for the Warner Bros. live action-animation film, Space Jam: A New Legacy.

James and his SpringHill Entertainment business partner Maverick Carter are producing the film with Ryan Coogler and Duncan Henderson. Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) is directing the film with James starring along with Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) as James’ wife, and Don Cheadle in an undisclosed role.

In the 1996 original, Michael Jordan teamed up with Looney Tunes characters to battle a group of animated aliens on the court. Space Jam went on to gross $230 million worldwide and besides Jordan, some of the NBA’s biggest stars like Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, and Patrick Ewing appeared in the film with. Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes.

As far as today’s NBA stars slated to appear in the film, the roster includes Portland Trailblazers’ Damian Lillard, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, and Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson. Also joining the squad are players from the WNBA such as Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi and Los Angeles Sparks’ siblings Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike.

Space Jam 2 will arrive in theaters on July 16, 2021.
