In a heartfelt and tearful moment at the open of his show today, 41-year old Actor and Comedian Nick Cannon announced the passing of his 5 month old son Zen Scott Cannon who sadly died after a battle with brain cancer.
In the moment felt by all watching, Cannon tearfully delivered the news to his audience. “Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor. Brain cancer,” he said.
Cannon went on to say, “He was always smiling and had the most beautiful spirit but I noticed he always had a little sinus thing . . .” Out of concern Cannon and Zen’s mother Alyssa Scott took him for a routine visit. Doctors discovered that Zen had a build up of fluid in his head. After several surgeries, things took a turn for the worst with the condition speeding up over Thanksgiving weekend.
Cannon detailed spending his last moments with Zen and Alyssa together at the beach with the sun rise and recalls holding his son for the last time. He returned to the show stating he wanted to grieve with his family (the audience) and referred to the episode as a celebration of life.
Nick Cannons son Zen was the 7th and youngest of his children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nick, Alyssa and Zen’s Loved Ones.
