The Witches release is bringing Halloween early this year thanks to Oscar winning director Robert Zemeckis, Warner Bros., and HBO Max. The prized director is teaming up with an all star cast of filmmakers – Kenya Barris (Shaft), Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth), and Alfonso Cuarón (Roma) for the reprise of Roald Dahl’s classic The Witches especially for HBO Max. Zemeckis has brought classics to audiences all over the world with Forrest Gump, The Polar Express and The Back to the Future Trilogy.
Newcomer, Jahzir Kadeem Bruno, stars in this fantasy adventure as the brave hero who accidentally uncovers a coven of witches who plan to turn the world’s children into mice. Bruno’s grandmother (Octavia Spencer), attempts to take her orphaned grandson to a seaside resort to escape the witches and their evil plan, only to discover that they are arriving at the exact time as the Grand High Witch (Anne Hathaway) has assembled her fellow evil clan to carry out the insidious mission. Acclaimed actors Stanley Tucci (Devil Wears Prada), Kristin Chenowith (Glee), and Chris Rock are joining the team for this film’s star studded reimagining.
A “classic tale that combines world class film making and with fantastic performances. It’s fun for the whole family and ideal for this time of year” says Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. The movie will premiere on HBO Max on Oct. 22 with a theatrical release on Oct. 28, The Witches is sure to bring Holiday fun to homes this year.
