Paul W.S. Anderson To Direct Resident Evil: Retributionby Wilson Morales
August 10, 2011
Bloody Disgusting is reporting that actress Milla Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice in ‘Resident Evil: Retribution,’ the fifth film in the series. They’ve also stated that Paul W.S. Anderson will be in the director’s chair.
Anderson has played a role in each of the films as either a writer, producer, or director. He most recently directed 2010’s ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife.’ He had previously helmed the first film, 2002’s ‘Resident Evil,’ while the second film in the series, 2004’s ‘Resident Evil: Apocalypse‘ was directed by Alexander Witt. The third film, 2007’s ‘Resident Evil: Extinction‘ was from Russell Mulcahy.
‘Resident Evil: Afterlife‘ made an amazing $296 million worldwide.
While Sienna Guillory, who played the character Jill Valentine, tweeted months ago that she is reprising her role in the film, Bloody Disgusting is stating that the role will be recast.
Characters slated to be in the film are Barry Burton, a member of the Special Tactics And Rescue Squad, (abbreviated to S.T.A.R.S.), and Leon Scott Kennedy, a U.S. Government agent and former Raccoon City police officer.
‘Resident Evil: Retribution‘ will begin shooting in October. Filming locations include Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Tokyo, Japan. The film is scheduled to hit theaters next year on September 14, 2012.
