Blackfilm.com correspondent Ellen J. Wanjiru chats with Paula Patton (“Precious,” “Traffik”) about her new series “Sacrifice,” premiering exclusively on BET+ on November 4th. “SACRIFICE” follows high-powered entertainment lawyer Daniella Hernandez (Patton) as she navigates the complicated lives of her clients while uncovering the truth behind her family’s secretive past and the death of her parents.
The series delves deeper into Daniella’s complicated personal life. She is a recovering alcoholic who compensates for her suppressed addiction with men and the adrenaline of defending the worst in the entertainment world against an over-zealous D.A. sworn to bring them all to justice. Daniella’s unimpeachable clients need her help, wisdom and resourcefulness – as do all the corrupt ones. She is the classic conundrum of doing good for bad reasons and doing bad for good reasons. Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s skill, maybe it’s because she’s beautiful, but Daniella gets away with it… so far.
“SACRIFICE,” based off the BET+ original movie of the same name, takes place in the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles following entertainment lawyer and power player Daniella Hernandez as she mitigates the complex lives of her rich and famous clients. An all- around boss with deft perception skills and a cutthroat in her negotiations, Daniella is an X- Factor attorney in high demand. In her attempt to protect her often nefarious clients, Daniella enlists the services of her resourceful assistant Tamika (V Bozeman), a young ex-hacker and tech genius Somwon (Altonio Jackson), and her loyal, jackknife personal bodyguard, Miguel (Nelson Bonilla).
