Will Packer, via his Will Packer Productions banner, will be producing the comedy. Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver, the same screenwriters of Lee’s Barbershop: The Next Cut,  will be working on the film as well. Universal Pictures will release the film on released on Friday, August 11, 2017.

When four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

Hall will next be seen opposite Morris Chestnut in the Screen Gems thriller When The Bough Breaks, which hits theaters on Sept. 16. Barbershop: The Next Cut.

Under Universal Pictures, Lee has directed The Best Man, Undercover Brother, and The Best Man Holiday for the studio. Barbershop: The Next Cut was distributed by Warner Bros.
