Showtime picks up Ron Howard, Jay-Z doc ‘Made in America’Posted by Wilson Morales

Jay Z, Kanye West, Pearl Jam, Run-D.M.C. and Passion Pit are just a few of the top musicians featured in “Made in America,” a doc acquired by Showtime from Imagine Entertainment.
Produced by Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard along with Jay Z, “Made in America” is a followup to Jay Z’s two-day music fest held in Philadelphia last year, which drew tens of thousands of fan during Labor Day weekend last year.
Documentary chronicles the Budweiser-sponsored event by offering viewers a backstage pass to the confab, and spotlights performances and interviews from some of the music industry’s chart-topping artists. In addition to producing, Howard helmed the doc.
The documentary officially debuts at the Toronto Film Fest on Sept. 7. Showtime will premiere the doc on television on Oct. 11.

Marcy Media, RadicalMedia and Participant Media produced the “Made in America” doc alongside Imagine. Exec producers include Jay Z, Paul Chibe, Diane Weyermann, Jeff Skoll, Erica Huggins, Jon Kamen and Sidney Beaumont.
