blackfilm.com correspondent Ellen J. Wanjiru sat down with Skyh Alvester Black, in a candid interview, to discuss his journey from dancing back-up on tour with music legends Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and Rihanna, battling homelessness at various points throughout his lifetime, auditioning six times for Tyler Perry’s-produced BET series, “Sistas,” to currently starring as the leading man on BET+’s “All the Queen’s Men,” as well as starring opposite Don Cheadle and Regina Hall in Showtime’s critically acclaimed drama series “BlackMonday.”
“All the Queen’s Men” follows Madam (Eva Marcille), a fierce businesswoman and self-proclaimed boss at the top of her game in the nightclub industry and surrounded by a band of trusted employees who work to ensure her success, who soon discovers that more money and more power means more problems.
Skyh stars as Amp, Madam’s nephew with a hidden past who has found difficulty getting hired after being released from prison and goes to work as a bouncer in Madam’s club, Eden, and is reluctantly lured into the world of exotic dancing.
Skyh Alvester Black will next star in AMC’s new legal drama, “Lace,” as attorney Othello Charles (premiere date TBA).

When he isn’t acting in front of the camera, Skyh loves to rejuvenate and spend time in nature, work out and train intensely in the gym, focus on his faith, and advocate for the homeless and impoverished.
Skyh also has a strong passion for nourishing and cultivating the dreams of minority children, and showing them that they can follow their dreams, no matter where they come from or what they look like.
