Tiffany Haddish Cast in ‘The Afterparty’ for Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is adding a new comedy series to their roster with The Afterparty. The murder-mystery comedy has recently announced that Tiffany Haddish and Sam Richardson (Veep) will be amongst the nine member cast. The series comes from Chris Miller and Phil Lord, with Miller serving as showrunner and executive producer with Lord producing. The pair have an overall deal with Sony TV and TriStar TV, where the series will be produced.

The eight-episode series will tell the story of what happened the night of a highschool reunion afterparty – through the lens of each character’s different perspective. The single-camera comedy gives each character’s retelling their own unique visual format and film genre, matching the characters personality. Haddish plays Detective Danner, the eccentric crime solver assigned to the case. Richard plays lovable escape room designer, Aniq, who hopes to reunite with his highschool crush. Other actors amongst the cast are; Ilana Glazer (Broad City), Zöe Chao (Lovelife), Ben Schwartz (House of Lies), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag), John Early (Search Party), and Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist).

Haddish is no stranger to star studded ensembles. Haddish received attention from her breakout role in 2017’s Girls Trip; playing opposite Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett-Smith. She joined forces with Kevin Hart for the 2018 release Night School, and partnered with Tika Sumpter on the romantic comedy Nobody’s Fool the same year. The actress can currently be seen in the 2020 comedy, Like a Boss, with Selma Hayak and Rose Byrne.
