Tony Award winner Patina Miller has been added to the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, playing the role of Commander Paylor. This marks her film debut.

The talented singer and actress joins a cast that includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Evan Ross and Julianne Moore.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Mockinjay follow Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

According to the Hunger Games wiki page, Commander Paylor was the leader among the rebels in District 8, and later becomes the president of Panem.

Miller won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her performance of ‘The Leading Player’ in Diane Paulus’ newest production of PIPPIN. Her other theater credits include Off-Broadway’s Ragtime, Lost in the Stars, Hair, Romantic Poetry, and Sister Act.

Mockingjay Part 1 hits theaters on November 21, 2014 and the final film arriving November 20, 2015.
