The web series, available on YouTube and the podcast available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast services offers up a robust second-season lineup, including upcoming summer July/August guests Darryl Jefferson, Vice President of Post Production and Digital Workflow at NBC Sports (supporting the upcoming Summer Olympics,Super Bowl LVI, 2022 Winter Olympics); Emmy-nominated editor Daysha Broadway (Born This Way, A Black Lady Comedy Sketch, Forty Year Old Version, Between the World and Me ); and Trailblazer’s own Eric Johnson, Senior Vice President of Sound + Engagement.
Renowned for its premium content and storytelling, Trailblazer will help adapt the podcast and webseries into a televised series which will help increase awareness of Black excellence with an even larger viewing audience.
Eric Johnson, producer and Senior Vice President of Sound and Engagement for Trailblazer, said: I’m so excited about this series because it gives young people of color an opportunity to see people that look like them working at the highest levels of the industry and it also provides industry veterans with an opportunity to learn of others like themselves. The series is also a fantastic resource for creators, networks, studios, and streaming platforms as they strive to be more inclusive throughout their productions.
Daniel Hunter, founder of Post In Black said: “Post Production is some of the most rewarding and impactful work you can do in entertainment but unfortunately it is constantly overlooked and taken for granted. Post In Black servers as both a showcase and a lighthouse. We want to highlight the incredible work that is currently being done by people of color all over the world and also invite a more diverse group into this space.“
The news comes on the heels of an already busy year for Trailblazer. Recently, the company produced the groundbreaking documentary Rise Again: Tulsa and the Red Summer, which premiered on National Geographic and Hulu in tandem with Juneteenth, as well as The Legacy of Black Wall Street for OWN and discovery+. Earlier this year, Trailblazer launched its podcast initiative with American Sport and entered a first-of-its-kind television endeavor with Reuters to adapt its highly acclaimed, award-winning investigative series The Body Trade.
As their slate of content expands, the desire to fulfill their goal of impacting, inspiring, educating and entertaining audiences both through their content on the screen and in “real life” throughout their communities is at the top of the list. The company plans to announce details of their philanthropic initiatives later this year to support underrepresented communities in need.
Post in Black is created by Daniel K. Hunter and hosted by David Hunter Jr. for Made For More Entertainment. Daniel, David, and Tatiana Johnson are executive producers for Made For More Entertainment. For Trailblazer Studios, Eric Johnson and Aurelia Belfield serve as producers.
