Samuel L. Jackson is the man that stays with a gig – this time he’s gracing the screen with Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek in the action packed comedy Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. Today, Lionsgate released the trailer for the follow up film to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which included the same star-studded cast with director Patrick Hugues and screenwriter Tom O’Conner. The flic comes from Lionsgate and Millennium Media with Matthew O’Toole, Les Weldon and Yariv Lerner producing. The studios producing are Millennium Media/Nu Boyana Film in connection with Campbell Grobman Films, and in association with Film i Vâst and Filmgate Films. Samuel Jackson Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard
In the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Reynolds comes back for his role as Michael Bryce, a bodyguard trying to recover from a long career and recharge — call it a psychological sabbatical. However, Bryce is literally pulled back into action by Sonia Kincaid (Hayek), the infamous international con artist and volatile wife of old friend/foe Darius’ (Jackson), who needs his help saving her husband. They get in over their heads in a global plot and soon find that they are all that stand between Europe and vengeful madman, Aristotle Papadopolous (Antonio Banderas).
Also starring in the film are Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, Caroline Goodall, Rebecca Front, Gabriella Wright, Alice McMillan, Kristofer Kamiyasu, Tom Hopper, Blake Ritson and Richard E. Grant. O’Conner and Phillip Murphy & Brandon Murphy wrote the script.
In addition to Bodygaurd, Samuel L. Jackson is starring in the upcoming SAW series addition, Spiral: The Book of Saw, alongside Chris Rock. The film is set to be released in theaters on May 14.
After being pushed around on the years calendar undoubtedly due to the pandemic as well as conflicts with Reynolds movie release schedule, the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has settled on a theater release date of June 16.
