Tristan Wilds, Aisha Hinds Cast In Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Fox Event Series, Shots FiredPosted by Wilson Morales

According to Deadline, Tristan (aka Mack) Wilds and Aisha Hinds are the latest additions to Shots Fired, a dramatic new event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights, The Secret Life of Bees, Love & Basketball) and Reggie Rock Bythewood (Beyond the Lights, Notorious).
The series will examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in Tennessee.
Shots Fired stars Sanaa Lathan as an expert investigator who digs into the cases, alongside a special prosecutor (Race’s Stephan James) sent to the town by the Department of Justice. The pair must navigate the media attention, public debate and the social unrest that comes with such volatile cases, as they seek justice before the divided town erupts. The event series is scheduled to debut in 2016.
Wilds will play Officer Belk, a young African American sheriff’s deputy in a small town in North Carolina, who after a police shooting is thrust into the national spotlight that pushes his life and young family into chaos. Hinds is Pastor Janae James, a young female activist from the neighborhood who also is thrust upon the national stage when she exposes the hypocrisy in the town.
Also cast in the series is DeWanda Wise, who will play Shameeka Campbell, who lives in “the houses,” one of the worst parts of town. She opens up to the prosecutors about her son being killed by police and how they threatened to arrest her if she talked.
Wilds was last seen in the VH1 film ‘The Breaks,’ and most is remembered for his role on the last two seasons of HBO’s acclaimed series, ‘The Wire,’ and on CW’s 90210. As singer Mack Wilds, he had a breakout hit with song “Own It,” and was also featured in the Adele music video for Hello.
Hinds was recently seen in TV One’s ‘Runaway Island’ and had a regular role on CBS’ ‘Under the Dome.’ Other TV and film projects include ‘Beyond The Lights,’ which Prince-Bythewood directed, BET’s ‘Gun Hill,’ which was directed by Reggie Bythewood, ‘True Blood,’ ‘Weeds,’ and ‘Detroit 1-8-7.’
Shots Fired is produced by Undisputed Cinema and Imagine Television, in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-written by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood. The project is executive-produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct.
