The cast and director have been set for a bible inspired loved story called R&B from producers Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin. The film will be directed by Alanna Brown (Trees of Peace) and includes and ensemble cast of actors with Serayah (Empire, Kingdom Business), Tyler Lepley (Harlem, P-Valley) and legends Jermaine Dupri (Genius: Aretha, Brown Sugar), Phylicia Rashad (The Gilded Age, The Beekeeper) and Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds (Black-ish, Girls Trip).
The faith based films partnership was announced in May of this year between Perry, Franklin and Netflix. The films will be produced by Perry and Franklin in conjunction with Tyler Perry Studios. The first film developed under the new partnership is R&B written by Mike Elliott (Brown Sugar) & Cory Tynan (Play’d)
Symopsis – R&B
R&B is a modern-day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz, one of the most iconic love stories in the Bible. Set in Tennessee, R&B tells the story of a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman and in the process finds the love of her life and gains the mother she never had.
