Wanda Sykes Tapped For Recurring Role in Season 5 of ‘The Good Fight’ | According to Deadline, Sykes will play Allegra Durado, a brilliant, strategic attorney who’s been away from the law for ten years while trying to finish her white whale of a book.

“Our holy grail of casting is always to find dramatic actors who can also deliver the comedy, and that pretty much defines Wanda,” Robert and Michelle King said. “We couldn’t feel more fortunate to be working with her.”

Sykes joins fellow actor-comedian Wayne Brady who also is joining Season 5 of The Good Fight as a recurring.

In the fifth season, Diane (Christine Baranski) is forced to question whether it’s appropriate for her to help run an African American law firm with Liz (Audra McDonald) when the firm loses two top lawyers. Meanwhile, Marissa (Sarah Steele) and the firm become entangled with Hal Wackner (Mandy Patinkin), a regular Chicagoan who decides to open his own courtroom in the back of a copy shop.

The cast of THE GOOD FIGHT includes Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Sarah Steele, Michael Boatman, Nyambi Nyambi, Zach Grenier, Charmaine Bingwa and Mandy Patinkin.

Robert and Michelle King serve as showrunners and executive producers of the series, which they co-created with Phil Alden Robinson. Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Brooke Kennedy, Liz Glotzer, William Finkelstein, Jonathan Tolins and Jacquelyn Reingold also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. The series is distributed worldwide by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.

Sykes is the star, co-creator, executive producer and co-showrunner of Netflix’s well received new comedy series The UpshawsIn 2020, Sykes received Emmy nominations for both her role as Moms Mabley in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and for her voice work as Gladys in Crank Yankers, a role she originated in 2004. She was also nominated as one of the exec producers behind comedy special Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah. Sykes’ fifth and latest standup special, Wanda Sykes: Not Normal, is currently streaming on Netflix and was nominated for two 2019 Emmys. She is repped by ICM Partners and attorney Roger Pliakas.
