The Black Manta/Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom)

This December, Yayhe plays the ultimate villain, The Black Manta in the newest sequel, Aquaman The Lost Kingdom. Kicking ass and taking names –  Black Manta, is back for revenge and will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. 

About Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

Directed by Wan, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is produced by Peter Safran, Wan and Rob Cowan. The executive producers are Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada.

Justice Smith (The American Society of Magical Negroes)

Justice Smith is breaking hearts this year in his newest film,  The American Society of Magical Negroes. Releasing in March, the film is a fresh satirical comedy about a young man, Aren who is recruited into a secret society of magical Black people who dedicate their lives to cause the utmost importance: making white people’s lives easier.

Colman Domingo (Rustin/The Color Purple)

Colman Domingo is on a roll, starring in Warner Brother’s The Color Purple and Netflix’s Rustin.  Starring as Mister in the Warner Brothers, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg produced The Color Purple musical motion picture. “In `Rustin,’ Colman Domingo demonstrates his impressive talents bringing to life civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, an organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. His credits include “If Beale Street Could Talk,” “The God Committee,” “Without Remorse,” “Candyman,” “Assassination Nation,” “Lucy in the Sky,” and “The Butler.”

Kelvin Harrison (Genius MLK/X)

Most known for his roles in Chevalier and Monster; Kelvin Harrison Jr most recently stars in Genius: Genius: MLK/X, the first installment of Nat Geo’s series to stream as a Disney+ original. The series will explore the formative years, pioneering accomplishments, dueling philosophies and key personal relationships of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Harrison Jr.) and Malcolm X (Pierre). While King advanced racial equality through nonviolent protest, Malcolm X argued forcefully for Black empowerment, identity and self-determination. With their formidable wives, Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz , by their sides, King and Malcolm X became synonymous with the civil rights era and the fight for racial and economic justice. 

LaKeith Stanfield (The Book of Clarence)

LaKeith Stanfield is an American actor who is best known for his roles in the films Selma, Get Out, Straight Outta Compton, Crown Heights, Sorry to Bother You, and Judas and the Black Messiah. He is also an upcoming musician and is currently working on his debut album titled “Self Control.” You can catch Stanfield in his upcoming film, Book of Clarence; which is an American epic biblical comed-drama film produced by Jeymes Samuel. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, James Lassiter, and Tendo Nagenda. The film follows a struggling down-on-his-luck man named Clarence living in 29 A.D. Jerusalem looks to capitalize on the rise of Jesus Christ by claiming to be a new Messiah sent by God, in an attempt to free himself of debt and start a life of glory for himself.
