DVD Gift Pack Giveaway From RLJ EntertainmentPosted by Wilson Morales

RLJ Entertainment would like to offer this 2013 DVD Gift Pack Giveaway to 5 lucky winners. The gift pack of select RLJ Entertainment titles included the following: Home Again, Frat Brothers, From This Day Forward, I Want My Name Back and Sistas, along with a One Village Entertainment water bottle.

HOME AGAIN

Written and directed by Sudz Sutherland, the film stars Tatyana Ali, Lyriq Bent, Stephan James, Richard Chevolleau, C.C.H. Pounder, and Fefe Dobson.

Between 1999 and 2001, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States passed legislation which mandated that any foreign-born person convicted of a criminal offense could be deported to their country of origin. This led to the expulsion and deportation of many who had left those countries virtually in infancy, and had no knowledge of the nations they were being sent back to. The blowback from this policy is the subject of Sudz Sutherland’s gutsy drama Home Again.

Marva, Dunston, and Everton grew up in Canada, the U.S.A. and England, respectively. Now deported “home,” each quickly discover a very different Jamaica from the idyllic paradise seen in vacation ads or from their vague childhood memories. Every day is a fight for survival in a place where family support, friendships, and shelter are elusive. Danger also surrounds them at every turn in a country that has the third highest murder rate in the world (per capita). Then there is the fact that Jamaicans uniformly blame deportees for much of their crime. Home Again follows the lives of three individuals that embark on a journey filled with great obstacles, but along the way they find the most human of emotions… hope.

FRAT BROTHERS

The directorial debut of Dante Wyatt, the film stars Romeo Miller (Jumping the Broom), Darrin Henson (Stomp the Yard), Mishon Ratliff (Lincoln Heights) and Denyce Lawton (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne).

Kyle (Mishon Ratliff) and Quentin “Q” Cooper (Richard John Reliford) have been raised to carry on their family’s proud legacy in the fraternity Delta Gamma Gamma. But Kyle is about to surprise his brother and disappoint his over-bearing father (Darrin Dewitt Henson) by pledging another fraternity, causing a huge family rift that no one saw coming. Now the brothers try to tackle newfound college life…but this time as rivals.

The film also features the hit single “My Brothers” by Mishon (featuring Romeo).

FROM THIS DAY FORWARD

‘From This Day Forward’ stars Leon (Deon), Essence Atkins (Patrice), Antwon Tanner (Lucas) Vanessa Simmons (Corinne) and Grammy Award-nominated hip hop gospel recording artist Flame (Noah).

“From This Day Forward” tells the humor-filled and moving story of two couples at different stages in their relationships who are each grappling with issues of trust and expectations in marriage. Deon and Patrice seem like the perfect couple after their four years of matrimony, however Patrice doesn’t trust her husband and is obsessed with thoughts of him cheating. Deon, who has always been faithful, is fed up with Patrice’s snooping and plays a trick on her to catch her red-handed. Corrine and Lucas are newly engaged but already struggling with mismatched perspectives on marriage stemming from Lucas’s decision to present Corrine with a pre-nuptial agreement to sign. Enraged and hurt, Corrine gives him a taste of his own medicine by giving him a “pre-nup” of her own. With one couple wrestling with the baggage of the past and the other dealing with the ‘what-ifs’ of the future, “From This Day Forward” explores how happiness in love—whether between spouses or those about to take the plunge—is a state that must be won again and again.

I WANT MY NAME BACK

If you know your old-school rap history, then you know that the legendary Sugarhill Gang introduced Hip Hop to the world with the Top 40 Hit “Rapper’s Delight.” But the story you haven’t heard is the shocking truth about how greed and betrayal led to the band’s fall into obscurity. From chart-topping superstars to broke outcasts, band members Master Gee and Wonder Mike were left with almost nothing…not even their names. In their own words, this is the true and tragic story of the former original members of The Sugarhill Gang.

SISTAS

Directed by Kenneth Ferrone, ‘Sistas’ features an all-female cast (Tracey Conyer Lee, Jennifer Fouche, Amy Goldberger, April Nixon and Lexi Rhoades).

With news of their grandmother’s passing, a group of sisters come together to pick a song to honor their grandmother’s legacy at her memorial service. Going through their grandmother’s keepsakes, the women uncover mementos that testify to their grandmother’s profound contributions to their family history and their community. In the process, the sisters tell their stories through the many indelible songs that trace the rich and conflicted history of Black women that span the days of Jim Crow, the 60′s Girl Groups, the emerging female empowerment of the 90′s, and the unique challenges of today’s youth. With classic musical hits including Oh…Happy Day, Precious Lord, Stormy Weather, R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Say a Little Prayer, Tyrone, I Have Nothing, Single Ladies and A Woman’s Worth, Sistas The Musical orchestrates an exciting and moving evolutionary concerto of African-American women.
