A Haunted House 2Posted by Wilson Morales
Marlon Wayans is such a gifted comedian. He can do anything but decides that he’s best suited doing the horror comedy spoof films til the end of time. From Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, Scary Movie, Scary Movie 2, Dance Flick, and A Haunted House, he’s tackled them all. But with his latest film, A Haunted House 2, it looks like he’s now expecting his fans to pay for his mortgage or a new a car. There’s nothing remotely funny here and it would be waste of time and money in seeing this.
Wayans returns to the role of Malcolm Johnson, who’s just getting his bearings after his demon-possessed girlfriend Kisha (Essence Atkins) disappeared after a car accident. Year go by, and Malcolm has now settled in a new home with new girlfriend (Jaime Pressly) and her two children. Within time, the new house starts to be become possessed, along with appearances by Kisha and a child’s doll that could be the sister of Chucky. Not even his next-door Mexican neighbor (Gabriel Iglesias) and the local priest (Cedric the Entertainer) can figure out what’s going on and why at this house.
There’s no point in telling the rest of the plot. There’s not much there. Just because the production value is cheaper than a house in LA or NY shouldn’t entice a distributor to give the green light for this atrocity. We’ve seen crude jokes in plenty of films, and some of them have worked; but this isn’t funny like Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2, which coincidentally was directed by his older brother Keenan Ivory Wayans. If Wayans had put in some quality time, he could have came up with a inventive way of spoof the Paranormal Activity series, Sinister, The Devil Inside, and Insidious.
