With shooting starting up soon in New Orleans for the 3D film ‘Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter,’ Blackfilm.com has learned that Australian actress Robin McLeavy has landed the female role ascopposite Benjamin Walker.

She was previously mentioned as vying for the role with Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Already confirmed in the film are Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper.

Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the script is written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote the novel on which the film is based. Grahame-Smith’s novel re-imagines Lincoln’s life as an axe-throwing, skilled killer of bloodsuckers, an obsession that dates back to the death of his mother as the hands of vampires. Lincoln vents his wrath on the vampires and their slave-owning protectors.

Walker will play Lincoln, while Mackie will play the role of Will (William Seward), Lincoln’s best friend and a fellow vampire hunter. Cooper will play Henry Sturgess, Lincoln’s vampire mentor.

While Mackie will next appear with Matt Damon in ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ Cooper has a supporting role in Marvel Studios and Paramount’s ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’

This is Walker’s first major role. He recently finished his Broadway turn in the musical ‘Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.’

McLeavy is a graduate of The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), which is like the Julliard of Austrailia. By the way, both Mackie and Walker are graduates of Julliard. Cooper trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)
