New York City based producer and creative Amira Shaunice highlights Black Queer women with ‘Phase 6’. In an interview with blackfilm.com, she illustrates the importance of providing an important, relatable platform for women who are rarely represented.

Phase 6‘ follows the journey of Jessica Williams, a Black Queer woman who experiences the six stages of a break up while wrestling with family drama, interpersonal relationships, and self-love. Check out our interview to learn about these six stages, and let us know what you think!

About Phase 6

This New York City-based producer is creating space for Queer Black girls like herself. She has built a universe that authentically reflects the experiences of many Black same-gender-loving women. The series explores the 6 stages of a breakup through the eyes of Jessica Williams. Jessica is grappling with a spiraling love life, friendships, and family drama. She is ultimately tasked with the challenge of finding self-love.

The creator of New York Girls TV boasts an audience of over 130K YouTube subscribers. She plans to bring her content to television, and has more projects on the horizon including a comedy show.
